Return to Video There’s no doubt that animals have a positive and profound effect on wellbeing so it is no surprise that they are often used as a form of treatment to help people cope with physical, mental or emotional problems. Animal therapy, as it is known, is a growing field . In nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and even in prisons, these qualified service animals are helping people. Dogs, cats and even horses can be brought in to help relieve stress, pain or just to be a caring companion. In the USA, some airports have introduced teams of animals to make the passengers’ experience more enjoyable . In many areas, registered therapy animals can even fly on the plane with their owners and they’re not just cats and dogs. You might find yourself sitting next to a duck or a pig on your next flight !
