Return to Video Farmers in Singapore have been using vertical farming to better utilise the available land on the island nation. In the east region of Changi one farmer has set up a vertical farm in an empty warehouse. Since 2013, they have grown rice crops here, and have been able to produce those crops more efficiently by controlling the atmosphere. Previously rice could be harvested four times a year, now, they can harvest once every two months. Over the last five years, more and more Singaporean farmers have adopted this new technique of farming and this has reduced Singapore’s overall pollution levels significantly.
